Shortly after the very successful run of The Sound of Music, Resorts World again came up with world class production featuring the Filipino Talents in Oscar and Hammerstein's The King and I. Monique Wilson and Leo Valdez of the very famous Miss Saigon cast leads as Anna and the King of Siam which started September 15 last year.
I was so happy to catch The Monique Wilson playing Anna, which happens to be her last performance being Anna, as well as Leo Valdez as the King.
It was a proud moment for me, and maybe for everyone in that jampacked theater how well our Filipino stage actors played. Tanya Manalang who played Princess Tuptim (Liezl in SOM) was remarkable. I will not be surprised if she makes it as Kim in Miss Saigon productions, which she recently has been shortlisted.
It was a very emotional encore for everyone as members of the cast whose contracts only lasts until the 30th had to give their final bow. But I know, for those who made it and watched this musical will forever remember how awesome and how grand the production was (too bad I couldn't take pictures of it)
The show is extended until May 2013 but the leads will now be Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and Nonie Buencamino. Equally talented actors which I also hope to get see before the season ends in May.
Tickets may be bought from the RWM Offie located at the Main Casino entrance or you may call +632 891 9999 for inquiries and reservations.
